Fruit Typing

Type fruit names as they fall before they hit the basket.

Type the fruit before it hits the basket

Fruit Typing is a relaxed, family-friendly falling-words game built around one hundred real fruit names — from the everyday apple and orange to the curious rambutan, kumquat, and breadfruit. Your job is simple: as a fruit drops down the screen, type its name before it lands. A correct word vanishes the fruit in a satisfying pop; miss it three times and the round ends.

What makes this round 90 seconds of fun

Each round lasts exactly 90 seconds. The spawn rate is gentle at first — a fruit every 1.4 seconds — so beginners can build rhythm. As your score grows, more fruit appear at once, forcing you to glance at the screen, recognize the next-easiest word, and commit. There is no level select and no in-app purchase. You just play.

How to play

  1. Click Start. Your keyboard is captured automatically.
  2. Watch the falling fruit. Begin typing any visible fruit name — the word that matches your prefix locks instantly.
  3. Finish the word to destroy that fruit. If you mistype, the lock clears so you can switch targets.
  4. Three misses ends the round. Your stats appear and you can replay immediately.

A small typing tip

Most people read every fruit before deciding which to chase. Faster players do the opposite — they let muscle memory pick a word that starts with the letter their fingers are already on. If your left index is resting on F, type fig before mango. Train this and your effective WPM climbs without typing any faster.

Why fruit names are a sneaky good practice list

Fruit vocabulary is broad and full of letter patterns you rarely drill in standard tests: silent letters in raspberry, double letters in passionfruit, vowel clusters in guava and papaya. Kids learn produce-aisle spelling at the same time, which makes Fruit Typing one of the rare typing games parents can hand to a 7-year-old without supervision. The word pool is curated — no slang, no obscure dialect forms — so spelling stays standard.

Beyond Fruit Typing

If you enjoy Fruit Typing, try Banana Typing (every word starts with B for absolute beginners) or Typing Food (international dishes with a delivery-rush twist). For a faster ride, the same falling-words mechanic powers Typing Rain, but with one punishing rule: a single typo and the whole word resets. Fruit Typing is the gentlest entry point in our catalog — perfect to bookmark for a quick 90-second decompression between meetings.
